T’was the night before Christmas, and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. And then Michelle’s water broke!
About 5:30 am on Christmas morning, Michelle woke me to tell me that the Christmas morning plans had changed. After phoning the midwife, we decided it was best to go into the hospital earlier rather than later. So, Michelle’s dad and I put all of Santa’s presents under the stairs. Santa has officially been waylaid at the Hutchinson house, and delivered presents Tuesday afternoon during Elliot’s nap.
So, after rushing to the hospital, we spent most of the day just hanging out, waiting for action. At around 4:30, action began. Just like with Elliot, contractions went from 30 min apart to 4 min apart in about 25 minutes. At 6pm, the epidural was complete (an extremely scary thing to watch as a husband) and hard labor began shortly thereafter.
At 7:23pm, we welcomed little Henry Hutchinson to the world. He was 9lb, 9oz and 21.5 inches long. He is pretty darn good looking too.
Today Elliot got to see his new little brother “Henny”. I was a little nervous about how it would go, but he was darling. He helped me count his toes, tried to share graham crackers with him, and gave him a kiss goodbye when we left.
Michelle and Henry came home Tuesday, and Elliot and I were super excited to welcome them home.
So sweet honey. What a wonderful Christmas, what lucky people we are.
