So, Elliot is learning a bit of sign language. Well, actually one thing, "All done". How you sign that you are "all done" is by putting both arms in the air, hands open and fingers outstretched, and then turn your hands back and forth. This is really handy when Elliot is eating, because sometimes when he is smearing his buttered bread on the high chair, or throwing stuff on the ground and saying, "Uh-Oh!", he isn't finished, just taking a small break. Now, we know unequivocally that he is done eating and wants out, mostly.
But now, "all done" is being employed in multiple situations. During a poopy diaper change, "All Done!" On a car ride, "All Done!" When i am putting him to bed, "All Done!" Sometimes it is funny, other times not so much so. Getting the "all done" sign in the middle of a diaper change, when he will then try to roll over and crawl away, is less than awesome.
All that being said, having another way to communicate clearly with each other is really exciting. I can tell he is excited when he can express himself and i know exactly what he wants.
